The Vermont Gran Fondo is a non-competitive road bike ride through Vermont’s Green Mountains. The ride will test participating cyclists’ fitness with challenging climbs through some of Vermont’s notorious mountain gaps.
Four ride options are proposed to participants: a gran fondo (108 miles with 11,400′ of climbing through the Appalachian Gap, Lincoln Gap and Middlebury Gap); a medio difficile (66 miles with 6,900′ of climbing through the Appalachian Gap and the Lincoln Gap); a medio facile (77 miles with 7,000′ of climbing through the Appalachian Gap and Middlebury Gap); and a piccolo fondo (37 miles with 2,600′ of climbing, but not through the gaps).
The gran, medio difficile, medio facile and piccolo fondo run through stretches of iconic Vermont dirt roads (approximately 10%). Dirt surfaces are hard-packed and easily rideable.
The 2019 edition of the Vermont Gran Fondo starts from a new location in Bristol, VT. Also new this year, the organizers will capture the riders’ time overall and on the KOM/QOM Lincoln Gap segment, moto support will be increased; and the after party will feature more food vendors.
Registration fees are $130 for the gran fondo; $100 for the medio difficile and the medio facile; $75 for the piccolo fondo. Please visit the event’s website for more information.
